After encrypting external hdd can i acess it in xp

HI I HAVE ENCRYPTED 1 PARTITION IN EXTERNAL HDD WHICH CONTAINS 4 PARTITIONS IN WIN7 WHEN I CONNECT TO WIN XP IT SHOW (NOT YET FORMATTED FORMAT NOW)BY USING XP OTHERS CAN FORMAT MY ENCRYPTED DRIVE

You can always format any drive, you encrypt it to protect the data. It's easy to destroy the data, just not get access to it.

how about you hide that partition itself from the computer management console? Or maybe make it a hidden partition using Truecrypt if you are comfortable using that..
