When I boot up my phone I get a warning "Battery temperature low - unplug your charger" even when my charger is not connected. If I don't dismiss this rapidly the phone shuts down. It can take several dozen attempts to restart it over an hour or so.
The Alcatel support site is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, and they don't answer their so called hotline. I live in Thailand, but they claim to have an English answering service.

Has anyone any ideas?

This usually happens when the charging port has actually be damaged. Either externally by the user or internally when the phone was opened up to do another repair (if opened up).

The only way then to resolve it is to have the port replaced.

If the phone is under warranty, contact the manufacturer about a repair/replacement (yes I know they are a pain to reach) or if out of warranty find a tech that can do the replacement for you.
