All Footage erased!

Just came back from the World Cup in Brasil,i was shooting with my canon legria HV40.
When I came home I was trying to playback one of the 3 cassettes but it won't run...not the footage on it nor the digits on the small screen of the camcorder...what could it be???why does this one won't go and the 2 others will?
Can someone help me....I have important data on this one espesialy!

Sounds like a bad tape...

I don't know much about this, however I've shot digital tape and was able to pull from the tape to my PC.

Do the other 2 tapes work okay?

Also, if the video plays in the camera, but not on the computer, try ripping the video another way. Something like this:
