You on drugs dude? I have no way indicated that my "connection" to waive my
termination fee was Comcast at all. Who the hell said that? For some reason
you think just because I work for Comcast and had a termination fee waived
think my "connection" was Comcast. Sorry pal, you've misunderstood my post
grossly as usual. Working for Comcast gives you nothing besides a monthly
discount, which I'm aware of. What the hell is your point?

That is 3 GSM providers to 2.

Two more phones and1 more carrier = outshines?

I'm not sure where you are getting your numbers from...don't tell me you
are just grabbing the number of phones each provider currently
carries...there are phones that are available that aren't "with" a carrier

would be more clear. You make very general statements without backing
them up. While I accept your distaste for Verizonwireless you are
stating your opinion. How about those facts.

Your numbers are way off. I mentioned 17 CDMA phones in my zipcode.
Are you telling me that those 17 CDMA phones are the only CDMA phones
available worldwide? There are other countries that use CDMA
technology. Even if it were slightly true, more is not necessarily
better. I guess what you could say though is that looking at Verizon
compared to those GSM carriers GSM makes more paperweights.

How's your Verizon coverage in your zipcode?

Your agenda here is to make general statements. My agenda is to look

Jesus man, just because you plug in your zip code and a list of phones comes
up doesn't mean those are the ONLY ones that will work. If you are technical
at all, you'll understand that any or %99.9 of CDMA phones will work on
Verizon's network. And any GSM (unlocked) will work on any GSM network. I
always unlock my GSM phones...so I do have the ability (which I rarely do)
to use that phone on any GSM carrier like T-mobile or Cingular. Just sawp
the SIM card.

Check out www.mobilecityonline.com. You'll see hundreds of GSM phones that
are pretty damn good. Hundreds of GSM phones that will work on any GSM
network if unlocked. Unlocking a phone is terribly easy and unlocking
Nokia's are the easiest. You'll notice the small, tiny list of CDMA phones
on that site. It's just pathetic.

Verizon will. And Alltel will, I believe. For the others, listing phones that
*could* be used is ridiculous, since those carriers won't *allow* them to be used.

I counted the phones. While there were over 100 only about half of
them were listed as in stock. Some especially in the Panasonic and
Siemans and his beloved Nokia lines were just the same model of a
different color. Many as you say will probably not be activated.

He lives in a dream world with visions of GSM phones dancing in his
head. In any event they are of no use to him because he is currently
a CDMA user.

I love to point that out.

Oh, c'mon, it's better than that.
He *was* a CDMA user but dumped it to get a REALLY COOL
GSM phone. Then (apparently) he couldn't make a phone call, had
to terminate his GSM contract and come back to CDMA.

So you really should say "*again* a CDMA user."... -

Let's see... Cingular will activate any compatibile phone (as does
VZW). AT&T Wireless will only activate phones which they have sold
(not just models they have sold; the actual physical phones, like
SprintPCS). So what will happen when Cingular and A&T Wireless merge?

It will only matter with the older TDMA phones. GSM phones are not
network specific. The only thing about some phones is for the data
settings many phones have the data settings hard coded into the phones
and the only way to let other data settings be put on the phone is to
have the phones flashed with generic firmware. If the phones are SIM
locked to one carrier generally SIM locks can be defeated by either
entering a code or by other means.

I guess some people here are clueless...not sure where to go with this. I've
used tons of phones that weren't "sold" or "supported" by the carriers and
always got them to work. I'm not sure why everyone else has problems...which
I think the problem is everyone talks to carrier customer service people
which is the worst thing anyone can do. If they get their hands on your
phone it will never work properly again. Unlocking a phone or even changing
some of the functions doesn't take much, specially if you know a little
programming. I already know a few of my friends activated the Bluetooth
functions on their V710. I don't know as much as they do...but it's possible
to get any phone to work on any network of course if it's for that specific
network. GSM for GSM, CDMA for CDMA, etc.....

Well, if you use Verizon and Cingular, of course you have. I've already *said*
that those two carriers, along with Alltel, WILL usually activate compatible
phones they didn't sell. *Other carriers* don't.

Sprint uses CDMA?

Also, I know several people already that use specific AT&T phones on
TMobile's network. Simply by unlocking the phone. Everyone here makes it
seem much harder or impossible just because THEY can't do it. I know, I
know...everyone is a computer god and knows everything. Usually speaking out
of their ass have no idea on what they're talking about.

Always has except for the very beginning when they were in DC they
were GSM. They've been CDMA for years.

Sure, it's always trivial if you know how to do it. If you don't know

Some people *do* know what they're talking about. There are those of
course who speak with authority but can't back it up. Again this is
not strange if you're older than 5 years old you should know this as

It's called unlocking a phone. Has ANYONE on this group ever heard of that
or done it? I've done about 6 already and it seems that no one here has a
clue.
