So I have been researching laptops and looking up laptops that are affordable but can play games in low to medium settings. So I have been doing research on the CPU a lot and I have read that I should get an A10 CPU since it comes with a way better graphics card than Intelsat HD4000 graphics card.I was just wondering if this is true.

The A-10 is a good choice for gaming laptop, but you can't play games with ultra graphics. You can play GTA 4 with custom settings and maximum resolution, the main problem of this laptop is the heat it generate. You have to use a cooling pad. The battery backup of this laptop is good, you can get maximum 3+ hours of battery backup on normal use and 1+ hours in gaming.

yep. as long as the laptop doesn't have a 1080p screen that a10 will rock any game you can get your hands on... games everything on ultra at 1366x768 smooth as silk. really a glorious little machine.

Yea the laptop I wanted has a 1080p screen resolution but I found one that has an 768p screen resolution. It has an A10CPU with an AMD Radeon 8650G graphics card and 6GB of ram expandable to 16GB.Also are you sure I would be able to play all games on ultra or on medium?

yep. at 1366x768 you'll be able to play pretty much any game on high or better settings. Getting a "gaming" laptop with a 1080p monitor is sorta a joke; which makes me wonder about how so many sell. Especially when you consider the "best" mobile gpus hover around a 7850/650ti desktop gpu in performance you'll never really get a solid high end graphic experience at 1080p in a demanding modern game. Even the "gaming" laptops with high end mobile gpus in SLi/xfire still will struggle at times in 1080p with some modern titles.

My buddy has an a10 laptop with a 1366x768 monitor which he comfortable plays modern games on high or ultra graphic settings. looks beautiful really... was watching him play skyrim on ultra... smooth as silk, best part about that machine was the 8 or so hours he could play it on battery.

very cool laptop. so speaking from personal experience i can assure you the a10 is a viable budget gaming chip in a budget laptop at 1366x768 resolution.

Depends on the game, you really are not going to max anything out with a A10 or that intel regardless. Maybe some older games and low graphic games like COD MW or Minecraft but i don't think you will be getting very high fps on games like battlefield 3 or skyrim with ultra-high settings. And i know from experience that the A10 has heating issues because my brother has a HP envy with a A10 that is always overheating, while playing minecraft! If you want it for gaming though, again you really can't compete with that A10,although the I5 is a very good, overall processor.

+1 didn't notice it was a 768p monitor ya he should be able to play on high to medium settings. But as i have said in other posts. The A10 get REALLY hot playing games. Make sure that laptop has a very powerful fan and a external laptop fan if needed.

Alright thanks I think I'm going to get the laptop then and it's on sale for $499 plus I'm getting a wireless mouse for $15 and a cooling pad for $15.Thanks for the help everyone gave me.Also I read something that said the A10 has turbo boost and can go up to 3.2GH.The model of the A10 that the laptop I'm going to get is an AMD A10-5750M 2.5GHz.Does this have turbo boost?

A-10 5750m can automatically overclock the cpu speed if it needed. It can overclock up to 3.2 GHz. Keep the laptop charging while you play games, because only in that condition you get maximum performance. You can play call of duty black ops 2 with custom settings and maximum resolution at 30-50 fps.

• Try to charge the laptop while you play the game.
• Check the performance of your laptop with windows task manager or any third party software while the computer is in full load which helps to understand the processor utilization and disk usage.
• Check the power plan of the laptop, make sure it is in high performance mode.
• Check the game's status in catalyst control centre to determine the games are in power saving or high performance mode.
• Try to update the bios of your laptop.

I already did that but it still performs very poorly! Even some basic apps will hang sometimes and for example right clicking on the desktop to change wall paper can sometimes take a few seconds! I have 8GB of ram and an external hard disk also, is it possible that I got like a faulty laptop?
