Another Acer Aspire battery problem

Acer Aspire 5750G
Battery is dead by now because it is not recognized, thus it isn't charged.
Laptop only starts up if it is plugged in to AC.
I tried to update the Bios, now 1.11 to both 1.16 and 1.21.
In both cases I get an error stating the bios can not be upgraded because the computer is on battery power only. Weird, as it is on AC power only.

Any ideas?

When it's off and I try to turn it back on, it takes several tries before it starts. While it runs I get the icon that the battery is all empty, no AC charging indicator. Yet, it keeps on going forever as long as I leave it plugged in. As soon as I unplug, it blacks out.

Just tried with a full battery from another Aspire,... Indicator on the screen shows it's full indeed, but still no charging going on. It's doesn't want to recognized that the charger is plugged in, while on the dead battery it does run without a problem straight from the AC adapter. Even when switching chargers between the 2 Aspires, still the same problem with the same computer.
