I've only just had to fix my grandfather's laptop due to him accidentally installing Windows 10 and shutting it off mid install through panic. So for better or worse he's now on Windows 10. He used to run Windows Security Essentials but I'd always intended to install something more robust but never got around it. Now I have the opportunity I am wondering what to use it would be preferable if it was free the ones I was considering were Avast or Avira but I've read Avast is on a decline now and I remember using Avira Free in the past with the constant pop-ups and adverts which I thought may confuse him. Can the people here recommend some set and forget anti virus software I don't mind recommending paid ones but throw in a free one so I have the option if he doesn't want to pay for one. Thanks

Panda appears to be a bit of a resource hog from the independent lab tests and user opinions I have read. The laptop only has an core i3 and 4Gb Ram
