ANTS in my Headphones!!!

I saw tens of ants crawling in and around all the tiny crevices of my Razer Electra headset. When I put them on I hear squishing, clicking noises. How do I get them out. I tried opening the headset but that wasn't possible without cutting the plastic, which is something I really don't want to do (they're brand new). Please help!

If you were able to kill them (gassing, freezing, whatever)...you will be left with dozens of rotting ant carcasses inside your 'phones.

In decomposing, the will release formic acid. Eating your headphones from the inside out, and eventually your ears.

I'd say put it in the freezer for a day or so and then shake the remains out.

I thought of that, but the holes are so small that shaking the ants out is just not a viable option. They have to get out alive, otherwise what USAFRet said might happen.

I don't know if ultrasonic pest repellents work on ants, but if they do, you could put your headphones near one and see if it drives the ants out. Or, put the headphones near a Combat Ant Bait. They'll go to that.

I found the solution. I covered the headphones with newspaper and put them out in the sun. After an hour or so I saw that all the ants were gone. Phew!

Might want to line the earcups with bug spray or something, that's... odd.
