app transfer pitfalls

Is an app stored on SD card or internal phone memory. I have an app on my old Sony Expedia flip phone that you can't get any more(its a home made ) app how can I extract it with out losing it? the app wont copy to sd card would rooting it but mybe lose it would copy all files on comp sort it dont really wont to mess about till know what to do and most important no lose the app?

from a flip phone to a smartphone? no, can't do. You will need to find something new that work with your new phone.
