I spilled a small amount of water on my apple laptop. I took the back off and let everything dry for 5 days. It now turns on but only for a few seconds and then turns back off. Is it a lost cause?

Sounds like it. Apple care (warranty) does not cover water damage. You can send it in, but expect to pay more to fix it. I'll open up the laptop and see what is damaged. If the water did not hit the motherboard (you'll see dried water residue), it could just be you need to replace the keyboard. If you can open it, you will see the little numbers on the keyboard. Google search and buy that. Make sure it is US keyboard.
