A lot of chinese tablets are sold under $100, most of them having an ARM 11 processor, one which is slower than the cortex A8/A9.

Most likely 128-256 MB of RAM, running an OS from an SD card is not advised, it probably runs from a 1GB soldered Flash rom.

A device like this is only good for internetting, perhaps watching tv resolution video (640x480, 720x576, 480p), and playing card/poker games or sudoku.

[citation][nom]maddy143ded[/nom]even a decent Portable dvd player isn't that cheap....i might definitely buy this one if the reviews are not to adverse on its performance.at present i have to carry my netbook all around just to be able to watch movies in travel(long train journeys) or read my ebooks. but this one would most definetly replace the netbook.i wonder if it is possible to replace the OS?may have to try by pluging in a ubuntu omap version preinstalled on a sdcard.........[/citation]
Most of them come with a custom rom for Android.
That means no self upgrading of the OS, unless the company makes the newer rom available

why are there IPAD FANBOYS in every android article, release info, reviews, video and forums ??

it seems that apple had brainwashed them into thinking that, great specs cannot come cheap

there are even disgusting propaganda such as the guy complaining above about receiving a crap archos tablet that he didn't even mention which model it was. . and i don't even know where he got his crap on having horrible user interface when the archos tablets makes use of the stock android user interface, and wtf did he mean about plugins to watch videos and browse the internet . . i've seen unboxing that plays videos and browse the internet immediately . . . . is that you steve jobs ???

and i think 720p can be played on a 800x480 res . . i mean they've already done it on previouse archos such as the archos 70 it . . with the same res . . and possible using the hardware acceleration . .

battery life on previous archos tablets are reasonable . . ipads can't run for 48 hours straight, why aren't anybody complaining about that ??

bottomline . . $99.00 for an android tablet is a great buy whichever angle you look at . . and archos is the only company having the balls to compete with the prices of chinese tablets(which now have specs comparable to the galaxy tab...it's true just look around the net)
