Are battery packs worth the money?

I plan on using my laptop for maybe 6-8 hrs at a time outdoors and was considering buying a battery pack for 100+$ but i can buy 2 replacement batteries for $45 and they should give 6 hrs charge.

Other than charging my phone also is there another reason to buy a battery pack?

No, other than the fact that you can't switch the laptop's battery with out shutting it down vs. you can just plug in to the external battery with out shutting down.

In most cases, you will charge laptop batteries inside the laptop, so when you come back, you will have to swap batteries as they get charged.

I miss the times when you could get a laptop with AA batteries...
