That goes well with the saying "Never Underestimate the Power of Stupid People in Large Groups"
Which in result produces that you can be careful all you want, the people around you will mess you up anyway. And facebook makes it easier for people to do so in this day and age.

They are already doing that.
And, if they know all your friends, they know you got no where to hide if you run. Even if you purposely don't keep contacts with your escape point, somebody else might have, friend of friend, and hop, they got you. That is assuming you do something wrong. If you don't, they don't care.
It is not a means to get the high profile 007s. It is a means to get normal criminals, or those that go and update their facebook status after escaping from prison or check facebook while robbing a house.

you got the irony definition wrong.
Whistleblowing ( which is inherently good ) is completely different from spying ( which is not).

I am very happy to see tosmshardware and the other comments have such an opinion on the matter. The reason for that is that US media are very powerful and distort reality that it makes it very difficult for any independent thinker inside the US to judge.
