Astro A40 7.1 Surround

Hello,
I am thinking of upgrading my headset and getting some Astro A40s. If I have a stereo sound card, will the a40 mixamp alone allow me to have 7.1 surround sound or do I need a 7.1 card?

I had an Astro A50, expensive, but I sold it and bought a Sony Gold Wireless. The cool thing about he sony is that you can use it not only on your PC but, though wired (wires are included) on your Phone or Tablet. Also it doest have stupid mic boom, the mic is built into the left ear phone. And get this its only $100. Surround sound is decent too... Id save the pain of buying overpriced $250 and spend the extra $150 elsewhere... just my 2 cents!

You'll have to forgive me for knowing nothing about sound cards! I have an Asus Xonar DGX if that helps
