I'm looking at two laptops,

Top choice: Asus G73SW-a1
Second choice: Sager Np8170

(customized upgrades for both would be 8gb 1333 ram, HDD's Seagate Hybrid's 500gb / 4gb flash)

From a hardware standpoint they seem to be just about similar. I heard that the Asus G73 graphics card isn't upgradable. That may be an issue, won't consider that for now.

Thoughts on which to go for?

The Sager BP8170 is a rebranded Clevo 170HM

$1720 for the Asus (no upgrades necessary to meet ya spec) + BR Reader and Win 7-64 Home Pre, 2 year warranty for $1729

$1793 for the 170HM w/ spec'd upgrades and noted additions above $1793

Major difference seems to be that the Clevo model has many more upgrade otopns .... for example:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470M w/1.5GB GDDR5 [add $100.00]
AMD Radeon HD 6970M w/2GB GDDR5 [add $245.00]
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 485M w/2GB GDDR5 [add $495.00]
NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M w/1GB GDDR3 [add $675.00]

Thanks. I've contacted xoticpc for a pricematch. Though it ends up as $1803 for the Sager there. And it looks like its lower because they offer a cheaper $50 blu-ray.

I'll probably be going with the Clevo 170hm build since I'll be able to upgrade that Gpu later in the year.

Good advice.
