A few days ago i tried to turn on my laptop and it said that it was low on battery and turned off almost immediately after (pretty normal). I was away from home and didnt have my original charger so i borrowed my friends universal one. It wouldnt charge or turn on so i just assumed it was the charger but when i got home and plugged in my normal one the same thing happened. I took the battery out and put it back in and it started to charge and turn on again. I used it for about 5 minutes and it shut down again and wont turn on or charge. Any advice on what i can do on my own? And if i have to take it in how much it would cost?

Hi,

First, do test your charger if it's supplying enough voltage to charge and power the laptop.

- Use a multi tester and see if it's supplying the correct voltage needed by the laptop. You'll get those information from the sticker label of the charger and also in the laptop.
- Also do try to remove the battery leaving the AC adapter and see if it will power the laptop and load Windows if it doesn't it could just be your charger and a replacement is needed.
- Try to uninstall/reinstall the ACPI Microsoft complaint battery driver from Device Manager and try charging again.
- Also do try another AC adapter and see if the same problem will persist because if not it's really just your charger that needs a replacement.
