/youtu.be/pMhaTy51Fo8 it appears that you can, indeed, upgrade the CPU. The only issue you may have is cooling and BIOS compatibility. Do you know your BIOS build and version? You should be able to find out in the BIOS itself.

I did some comparisons of the different compatible CPU's for that laptop. It looks like the i3's and i5's would work just fine as an upgrade. The TDP for all of the chips is 35w. The only exception is the i7 model which is 45w. So, anything under the i7 would work.
Ebay has all of those chips for super cheap ($10-$30).
