asus laptop won't turn ON without an ac connected on it

I have ASUS X540S,it won't switch on without an AC connected...and it immediately blacks out when AC is disconnected. Battery status say 96% available (plugged in, not charging) when on AC. No lights shows up when i press the power button if its not on AC. ITS 1 MONTH OLD.

WHAT COULD THE PROBLEM?

if its still under warranty return it and get it check.it could be you battery or the connection for the battery on the laptop itself.

I'm having the same problem, so I'd like to know if you found a solution or what ASUS did to resolve the issue.
