Asus laptop X541U won't start though the screen is displayed the password is not seen or shown

I turned on the laptop but it's just on. With the screen saver only and it's not responding and it's not shutting down despite pressing the power button

You may need to either pull the battery (yes I know they are hard to get to on some laptops) or unplug it and wait for it to run out of power to get it to turn off.

Now if it is under warranty, don't open it up looking for the battery. Instead contact the manufacturer.
