ASUS Notebook frozen at BIOS screen

Up until today, my Asus notebook has been working fine for two years. Today, I turned it on to be greeted by my BIOS screen. Pressing any button has no effect. It is frozen solid. Turning off the notebook and back on again yields the same result. Here are my complete system specs:

ASUS X551MAV-EB01-B Notebook
Intel Dual-Core N2830 (2.16GHz)
4GB DDR3
500GB HDD
1366 x 768
Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Unfortunately, the laptop does not acknowledge the hard boot. Holding down for 5 seconds just turns it on and back off again.
