Asus R500V will only power up using mains power

I have had my laptop for less that a year however it now will not run on battery power. I have replaced the battery with a brand new one and the same happens. It informs me that the battery is at 100% yet it will power down once the power cable is removed and will not power up again unless the cable is plugged in again. Does any one have any advice that will save me money by not taking it to a repairer?

Make sure the battery is fully connecting, eg. get a screwdriver and bend the pins a bit to make sure the accupack is connecting to every pin.
