Asus ROG G72GX Chugging under gaming load.

I have acquired an Asus ROG G72GX with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 with a GeForce GTX 260M

Every time I play games on it, currently Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3, it will occasionally stop performing smoothly and start chugging, I think my FPS gets as low as 2-3 fps and this will continue for a few minutes. It seemed to be tied to heat, as the GPU would reach 100c right around this phenomenon, but this morning I booted up and started playing and it happened again at 50c or so. Any thoughts on how to diagnose and fix this issue? It's driving me mad.

Hi,

Start by cleaning the inside of your laptop, make sure there's no dust stopping the fans from spinning freely. Apply a new thermal paste as well on both GPU and CPU that should help in cooling down your laptop. Next is to do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
