Asus S301LA notebook turned off when accidentally headphone pin touched USB port

As wrote in title my headphone's pin touched accidentally to USB port and then shutdowned the laptop immediately. I tried to turn on but still unable. Someone suggested to take out battery and hold on power button for 30 to 60 seconds and insert battery again, that will solve. But problem is I afraid screwed up the laptop . If something went wrong, I will loose my data. Do any one tell me any idea how to solve my problem. I'm really panic omg!

This sounds like a possible short caused by static discharge. Your HDD/SSD (whatever you use for storage) is likely okay, but you may have damaged your motherboard. Is the laptop still under warranty?
