I have a asus u63jc laptop and would like to upgrade the ram
https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/U36JC/

Ive searched, some places say that 8gigs is ther max and others say 16gigs is the max

The ram that comes with the laptop is clocked at 1066mhz if I got ram that was clocked at 1333mhz or 1600mhz will the laptop be able to use it?

Can someone clear this up for me?

Thanks

Pretty much yes, anything higher than 1066mhz and it just won't take on board the extra mhz. :)

I found that 8GB was max. The Asus website says 4. However, you can't just use any 2x4GB RAM sticks. The 4GB RAM sticks need to have 16 chips (256MB ea) instead of 8 (512MB ea) because the Mobile Intel HM55 Express chipset requires it. The stick with 8 made my U36JC blue screen.
