Hi,

I am looking for mid range laptop and narrowed down my search to the following models:
Asus X450LC
Lenovo S410P

I am buying it for somebody who is a professor and does pharmacy models. So, the laptop should have fair amount of RAM and adequate graphics card and I found the above models have what I need.

Now, we want a laptop that has good durability, something that lasts 6 to 7 years without major hardware problems. There will be a lot of travelling, so the laptop should handle at least some rough handling even though it is carried in a bag personally.

Both the laptops have the same config more or less (the 250 GB extra in lenovo does not matter at all).

So, keeping in view that both are priced almost the same, with almost identical config, can you please suggest on which one should I go with. I am looking at minimum problems as we will not have enough time to circle around service centers or shipping out to service outlets.

Thank you in advance.

Aswani.

Hi Sprinter, there are a couple of mismatches in the versions I saw in the store:
Lenovo: 1 TB
Asus:Nvidia 2 GB.

That makes both the laptops almost the same config (as I said before 250 GB extra space in Lenovo does not matter at all)...

I heard s410p has some USB port issues and ideapads are notorious for wifi problems.
These could potentially be deal breakers for lenovo. On the other hand, I did not hear any complaints about Asus..

What are your opinions?
