Asus X53E won't power up; just been away for 2 weeks, I shut down the PC before I went and unplugged it. Now I can't switch it

Asus won't power up

[Is there power to the power socket?
Has the fuse in the plug gone?
Is the power switch on the reverse of the computer tower in the right "on" position?
If you have led lights in your case - these do not function?
If yes to all of these - need a new power unit.

Check that you have power to the plug on the wall.
Plug power supply into wall,if it has a led is it lit,if no led is it getting warm.
Plug power supply into laptop,rotate the plug a few degrees in each direction a few times.
Check power supply plug in laptop,is the center pin present.
Remove battery and then try power.

feel an idiot. After I took the battery out it turned on as normal. Doh!
