Question Asus X54C power button working with a condition

Hello, I opened the laptop to replace a faulty fan and when I put it back together the power button didn’t work.

So I replaced power button module cable and still the same.

However, whenever I remove the top cover (the one under the keyboard) it seems to work fine !

I’m puzzled.

check the ribbon cables again
these should be tightly plugged into the ports and secured by the locking bars

maybe the button itself is damaged or the contact between the cable/PCB and button is faulty

I did all that. When I remove the top cover, it works fine.

So I'm still puzzled

Is it possible that the cover is pressing the button on all the time?

Problem solved:
I've cut the grounding ribbon between chasis and power button module and it works find now.

It makes no sense what so ever, but it works.
