Asus X553M laptop no lights, no power power adapter good

Asus laptop x553m has no indicator lights, no power, no boot but power adapter is good as we tested it with a meter. Jack is not loose either. Will a bad / dead battery cause no indicator lights?

A dead battery should not prevent a lapotp from booting on wall power, but a dead motherboard would. Try it without the battery.

That's what I thought but wanted another opinion. Did unplug the battery with no difference, no power and no lights. Oh well. Thanks for the reply!
