At&t LG gpad f 8.0 questions

Hi,
I just got my wife a AT&T lg gpad f 8.0 I'm not real familiar with the tablet, so I have a couple questions for the group please.

Since the tablet has a phone number, can I make phone calls with it? How would I send text messages?
