Swedish internet is a lot cheaper too. I pay $26 a month for 7.2 mbit wireles broadband (turbo 3g (hspa)) and $35 a month for 100 mbit fiber. both without any datarestrictions

Well we all wish we had cheap powerful symmetrical internet from Sweden now don't we? But hell i pay 30 a month for At&t dsl(i know the pay scheme but i threaten to leave awhile ago and got 5 bucks off my bill there is no fiber in my area yet so comcast or at&t in my area and comcast sucks big balls in my area tons of downtime and congestion) i get 6016kbp/s up and 768 down i get ~5200 up and 680 down after it goes though the modem and crap, the dam is reliable as far as my 4 years with it not a day without service and been consistent sense day one. I call that decent internet imo.

75 USD per month for 24mB connection? Are they NUTS? Over here, they'll freaken install FIBER into my ASS if I agreed to pay 75 USD / month.

There's a lot of people yelling at AT&T, but the only reason those people have a contract with them is called the iPhone. You wanna keep that phone? Fine! Pay whatever fee/fine/quota they want, and GET OUT OF AT&T! It's not that hard! 3G is not a life-critical service, specially the one AT&T gives.

in malaysia it's even worse. $120 for a 4Mbps(no fiber) . Yet u guys complain about those rates. $75 for 24Mbps is a bargain here.

I guess I don't see what the above chart comparing DSL speed packages has to do with the iPhone and Wireless Data packages. They have always had a chart like this for DSL levels, where the y-axis suggests what each level is IDEAL for, not restrictions on each level. I think the text above is misleading.

This article is misguided - this is a chart for AT&T's home services, not cellphone services. I do have to say that it's somewhat silly that they say only particular services are available for different speeds, although if you want no lag or buffer times, that could be the case. I know their prices are high compared to what some pay for DSL, but it is cheaper than my old provider - CenturyLink charges $31 for 512 Kbps and $41 for 1.5 Mbps service.

That might be why the article is about U-Verse and not cellphone services...

Okey. I can´t use Facebook with the 1,5mbit service. But can I use F*ckbook?

I agree Laminator. I would have paid any price (and probably still have saved money) for the day when AT&T said DSL was in my area instead of HughesNet being my only option.

[citation][nom]randomizer[/nom]That's pretty sad especially considering it's DSL, which means you'll never get those speeds anyway.[/citation]

This is not about DSL. This about U-Verse which is not DSL.
I do agree this chart is junk and really is lying to their consumers. There is a difference between online conferencing and video conferencing though. You can do online conferencing to just share applications. The difference is nowhere near this large though.

Yah, total BS. I have 1.5 Mbps cable at home and I don't have any problems with Facebook, Hulu, and Youtube.

My parents also have AT&T for DSL Internet. They pay for the 6 Mbps plan and they actually get 6 Mbps.

What a load of crap. My overpriced Iphone plan (3g)lets me pull about 1 meg down. Without the ability to tether I might add. Not that I ever download anything on it. My home cable connection pulls 15 meg down @ $35 a month. Which is how I download just about everything to my Iphone. When is AT&T going to grow a pair and stop crying victim? I'm almost tempted to go to Verizon. I'm just getting sick of the b.s.

Hmm, 10Mbit fiber is part of the basic rental package here, with 100Mbit and static IPs available for $12 extra a month.

I suppose I should simply encourage all my friends to add an unencrypted wireless router to their setups, that way we could all move around the local area without ever paying anything for either data or calls.

Which would be win I suppose.

Did you see the * in the chart? Three of the plans go up by $5.00 in price by Feb. 2010
