For anyone wondering, yes the cell phone providers can legally change the terms of your contract at any time. However thankfully the gov't mandated that if they want this flexibility then it goes both ways, and if they change your contract then they have effectively BROKEN it, and therefore you are RELEASED from it. The moment ATT touches your contract you are free to cancel and leave them if you like. Someone mentioned earlier that ATT is simply gambling on the chance that people are ignorant of this fact and therefore will keep service. The amount of people who cancel vs the amount of people who upgrade their plans is still a net profit increase for ATT, so they're willing to do it.
