Hi All,

Is there any software which converts stereo audio to surround sound [5.1] for movies especially,

Thanks,

Solution
Surround sound systems have the ability to derive surround sound from two channel material. Dolby Prologic2 is an example of software that does this but It requires special hardware since it has to be done in real time with minimal delay.

There is no software to do this, you need media encoded to it (such as a movie on DVD), a media player that can play it (such as WMP, cyberlink, etc), and a sound device with a Dolby Digital Output. You can obviously replace the DVD and WMP with a game that has a dolby digital soundtrack. It doesn't cost much, such as:

Which provides you with an optical out and the built in encoding chips to transmit the 5.1 audio to your surround sound system.

You would need a surround sound receiver/amplifier. Dolby Prologic is old technology and not 5.1 .

As I said there is no software that can derive this. The closest thing you can do is connect 2 channels to a surround sound receiver and set it to "All channel stereo" which will play out of every channel, but isn't true "surround sound" as you don't get the multi channel effects.
