Audio jack needs to be pulled out slightly.

My earphones (stereo with mic)(trrs) used to work fine until recently. But now the audio sounds washed out. If I pull the audio jack slightly outwards then everything sounds fine, the stereo becomes fully functional. This is the case on both my smartphone and laptop. Any help would be much appreciated!

Most likely the plug is about to die. Replace plug or replace whole cable.
