Audio splitter question (unique setup)

Jul 1, 2015
I have my PC and my xbox one plugged into my benq monitor (both via HDMI). I have a pair of maudio self powered speakers plugged into the monitor that outputs sound from both the pc and xbox. I have an astro a40 with mixamp that is plugged into the xbox and pc. The problem i have is getting audio from the speakers and the headphone simultaneously. Someone said I needed an audio splitter but would that help me in this situation?
Don't think a splitter would help. You could use an input selector switch in reverse to send audio to the speakers or headphones but why not just turn off the speakers? If just doing this on the speakers themselves is not convenient plug them into a power strip with a switch.
