Backup recovery for IBM R40

We've got an IBM R40 Thinkpad and a USB backup drive. The R40 has been brought to factory settings and now needs RESCUE AND RECOVERY VERSION 2.X to access the backup drive. It's not available on IBM's web site----do you know how it may be available?
