Solved! battery says it isnt charging while the phone is on but when the phone is off it vibrates repeatedly as though the charger is

I have had this Samsung galaxy s3 mini for a few months and no problems but when I put it on charge it vibrates as though the charger is being put in again and again. I have tried leaving it but it never really stops vibrating.

I would try another charger cord and see if that works, you may want to also try your cord in another device.
