Best 7.1 surround gaming/recording headset for under $150?

This is pretty much self-explanatory. I'm planning on starting up a let's-play channel and I would like to know: what would you guys recommend?

(Bonus question! What 7.1 sound card would you guys recommend?)

Best headphones for gaming at that price, go with something like the ATH-AD500x or HD558. Ignore so called 7.1 headsets, they don't work as intended.

Oh, so should i get a 5.1 sound card then? Also remember, I need a high-quality microphone for recording purposes, and neither of them have one.

If you need a boom mic, the G4ME ONE/ZERO could work, as could something like the modmic.

For now ignore sound cards, your motherboard can drive them just fine. No sense in losing budget you could spend in other ways.

You can either get a headset (Astro a40's @ FRYS.COM for 149.99) or you can get Audio Technica M40x's @ proaudiostar.com for 80 bucks and the modmic 4.0 for 50 bucks with an overall total of 130.

Alright, thanks for the info! I believe I'll pick up the G4ME ZERO and a sound card. (My onboard sound is crap.)
