Best antivirus application

I have a Galaxy SIII that I just got a few weeks ago. I am new to the Android scene, so I was wondering people's opinions on antivirus software for Android. I have received mixed reviews as to whether they're necessary, but I figure I can be safe. What is the best free one (since I don't exactly have a lot of money to burn)? Why did you choose that particular app?

He sent me a link to AVG for Android. I don't know why he couldn't have posted it here either.

That should be OK - at least it wan't Norton! 😀 Sorry tonyboselli but that particular programme is the bane of my professional PC fixing life.
