Best audio output for mp3 player brands

Hello,
Using Ipod Nano 8gig for music source on motorcycle connected to quality system with amp and rare earth magnets in the speakers. Have learned the Ipod output power is very low on Nano. Is there another Ipod-like device with a higher/stronger audio output. I am understanding that I have very little power going to amp so that the amp can only do so much... if I have more power going to amp, the volume would be better along with accompanying sound quality.
In case you didn't notice, I'm not too "techie". Hope this question makes sense!

The best test is to check the level of your iPod on headphones and take those phones with you to a retailer with a decent range of MP3 players.

Personally, having owned an iPod I'm now a fan of the Sony range -- cheaper than Apple, notably good sound quality and (above all) drag and drop loading -- none of the restrictions of vile iTunes.

Thanks for you suggestion. I rarely use the Ipod with headphones. I am using the Ipod as music source on a motorcycle. Again, I can not find the actual audio output of the Ipod Nano 8gig but have been told the Iphone has a much greater audio output. So I am trying to find an Ipod like device/MP3 player with a much stronger audio output to use on the motorcycle. Hope this makes sense?!!!

The point I'm making is that the volume in the headphones will be an indication of whether a new mp3 players will offer more or less output than the iPod.

You presumably can't take the motorbike system into a store !

Let me try a different question... is there a site that lists the audio output of the Ipod/MP3 players. I looked at specs at Apple Store and got no where quickly. I did see somewhere that the Walkman has earphone volume limiting protection. I don't know if that could be defeated and work in my application. Your point is good and now I understand where you were coming from.

Have a look at the mp3 specialist site www.anythingbutipod.com -- though obviously they don't have much about the iPod range they do carry reviews and their members are pretty expert on various mp3 brands.
