That's a good price but ... in a year or so when HDR is more widely used, I think you will wish your TV supported it.

Who writes these articles?

"5.1 or 7.1 surround sound aren't offered in this price range"

Please show me the television that somehow magically has 5 or 7 speakers and a subwoofer as well as a reciever placed around the room to create actual 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. There isn't a TV in ANY price range that actually has 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. Yet, the common folk will read this and think otherwise.

Seriously Tom's Guide. Who is writing this stuff? Anyone who actually knows/wants 5.1 or 7.1 surround knows that the TV's speakers and sound offerings are a completely moot point. The audio will be piped through a reciever via HDMI anyways to ACTUALLY create 5.1/7.1 sound.

Wrong. Don't know anyone who runs audio and video over the same HDMI cable with surround sound. Almost every TV, even before smart TVs, have 5.1 7.1 speaker support built in . Audio and video signals are split by those who want true surround and not the simulated version that comes from external receivers that have built in audio processing. For a 7.1 surround sound only the video will be routed over HDMI and audio via optical out of the TV so the true surround audio can be heard. The type of speaker setup involves a receiver that is only needed to "receive" the audio sugnal from the TV and route it to the respective speakers. Using some huge receiver to manage all AV devices via HDMI connections is not the way true surround works

Unless Insignia has done something drastic with their build quality I cannot stress enough to stay away from them/
Random power off, sometimes several times a day, sometimes not for weeks. Random black band at top of screen. Random lock ups requiring you climb behind the TV and unplug from the wall to get back. Random loss of HDMI input and particularly video with no sound. This happens most often with computer for some reason, any computer.

Buy anything but an Insignia. Really.
