Best encryption software?

I am trying to find what is the best FREEWARE encryption software, I have looked at snapfiles and downloads.com. It seems that everyone has recommended cryptainerLE. My basic use for this would be for my USB drive and folders so it needs to be folder compatible.

A good encryption software I used was called Ghost-Encryption.. I found it at www.DownLoads.com about a year ago. The Ghost-Encryption Tool was able to encrypt and hide floders and files.
