Hi Guys,

Just got a lovely call from my CEO and he wants a gaming laptop. Budget is $2,800. The guy really does like best of the best and I am not up to date on my gaming laptops to know whats out on the market these days.

Must have's
17"
SSD drive
Lots of ram

Any recommendations would be great!
Thanks

These two models have two independent fans - one for the CPU and other for the GPU . Whereas there are MSI laptops that dont have 2 but only one fan . Also the first has 256GB ssd and the second give such an option . Asus is a quality brand .

Why does he need so much ram? Also, ram can easily be added, a new or better cpu and gpu is much, much harder to add.

Right, but SLI with the 800 series chips is fairly mature so the bugs will be mostly worked out. The only thing you would have to watch for is new games not having SLI profiles.

OP its up to you. Personally, if im only getting a 980 I wouldnt spend above $1700, but I think in the long run he would be happier with SLI
