I already have a desktop rig (GTX 970 and i7 4790k like you), but would like a portable computer to take to friends houses and be more convenient.

I have checked out PC specialist already and just wondering if there are any other good options, or if I am best going with PC specialist .

for LAN parties and stuff I woudl recomend an ITX build, they're really compact but still better than a laptop. I had a laptop and its put me off all together

Matt, you do have a good point. However, for me it wouldn't make sense to have two desktop computers, one laptop and one desktop makes more sense.

I also had a laptop, and I switched to a desktop as fast as I could lol. But, by now gaming laptops have pretty decent performance for the price, and the thicker ones don't overheat.

Thanks for the suggestion, however I have read many reviews of that laptop stating about the loud fan
I can get that for about £880 elsewhere.

Thanks again, but I still feel that's too expensive without having an SSD.
