I think the nexus 7 is a great tablet. Its around 200 dollars, and will handle reading and web surfing no problem. You can then buy a case with a keyboard for it, but I don't recommend trying to type term papers on it or anything.

There are cheaper tablets, some great ones in the $150 range, but this has the best battery life, can multitask easy, and is user friendly.

This for example, would be a keyboard case. It would just connect through bluetooth, just remember turn it off when not in use, along with your bluetooth because it'll sometimes kill battery life.

Thanks, I will use it for writtin essays when I am not at home, so mainly word or excel, btw what generation is the best/last?

Edit: appatently there are keyboards with usb so you can plug a mouse, or a usb. But there are compatibility problems so a tablet won't replace a laptop. How hard is to write an essays with images on a tablet?

The best is the one I linked. And I don't know if you can get full fledged office on it but their are alternatives. Like the guy above me said you can get a laptop for under 400, but I don't know how hard its going to be to type essays on a keyboard case for it.

This is a tablet/laptop combo. It comes with office, but the tablet portion is 10.1 inches. So its up to you, the nexus might be a little faster, but the transformer book has a USB port on it also. Also with the transformer book you could plug a USB keyboard into it if you wanted, at least you should be able too also a flash drive if you wanted too.

No, but your answer was helpful
I live in a different country so I might go for the nexus or a surface pro with keyboard, I like the w8 on my tablet and my pc.
