Best value gaming speakers?

I just got a new gaming PC when I haven't one in 12 years. I been using a laptop. It came in yesterday, and now I'm staring at it in envy without sound and without it hooked up. Does anyone have a good recommendation? Use headphones, if your card ever whines or something it will be annoying to have speakers. Headphones use surround sound which helps detect where noises are from in game. Also, they make great voice chat devices.

Also headphones are much cheaper than good speakers.

That's a good question. I personally use Razer Krakens. They are around 50 dollars and are amazing. I've used them for a year and never had an issue.
