Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Headphones, 250 Ohm COMPATABILITY

Good morning!

I realise I know nothing about audio setups, therefore talk to me like a 5 year old please, thanks in advance.

I'm currently looking into buying 'Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Headphones, 250 Ohm' for my computer, i'm just wondering if somebody knows if there's a external sound card of some sort to help me connect it to my PC (I presume it's not just a USB + green wire like my current headset)

The above is basically a different language to me, therefore I presume, Gold plated stereo, 'Jack plug (3.5 mm) and 1/4" adapter (6.35 mm)' is the input you plug into a subwuffer?

Anyway, the moral of the story is i'm looking for a external sound card for 'Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro Headphones, 250 Ohm'

Those are very good headphones. You could use them in any headphone port, including plugging them directly into your computer or phone. To appreciate the full benefit that these high quality headphones offer, you can upgrade the "digital to analog" conversion, and/or use a headphone amplifier. The basic digital to analog conversion offered by your computer can be upgraded significantly by using a usb soundcard or a usb DAC. For best results you can buy something that also has a headphone amp built in.

•Nominal impedance: 250 Ohms per cartridge (requires more power than basic headphones but will still reach adequate volume for most people without an amp)

3.5mm is the most common size headphone connection, some home theater receivers and other size devices use a larger 1/4 inch connector.
