Hello,
I'm looking for a gaming laptop that can support playing Battlefield 3 at medium/high settings at smooth fps (40-60), (even ultra if you can manage to find one!) with intel processors, yet keeps me around the price range of £600-£800. (I know it's a tight wallet, but I plan to spend time searching before i get back to school in September. And i need your help!)
I am aware that a desktop tower could achieve far higher in this price range, due to portability coming at the price of mobile hardware, but I need portability (but weight doesn't matter at all) and the power...

One big thing is that it cannot be imported. I am in the UK, and prefer it to be from the UK. (This doesn't mean that it must be a British company, but rather that it cannot be imported).

My 'must-haves' are:
*8GB of DDR3 RAM or better
*i5 quad core 3rd/4th gen or better (i7 preferred but i5 will do)
*2,048MB graphics card (recommended for BF3)
*15-17" screen (matte preferred, gloss may suffice if other specs impress)
*1920x1080 resolution preferred, but lower may suffice if other specs impress
*250GB HDD 5400rpm or better
*Windows 7 or 8 will do
*Weight, colour, or material is no problem ((more) metal preferred though)
*Atleast 2 USB ports (3.0 preferred, 2.0 may suffice if other specs impress)

I have found a few, (I have placed them in no specific order), yet I have concerns with several, which are stopping me from deciding on them. (Links at the very end). Please care to provide your opinions:

###Lenovo Ideapad Y510p
i7-4700MQ -- SLI (2x) NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 750M (4,096MB) PCI-Express GDDR5 -- 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance RAM -- 750GB 7200RPM HDD -- 15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080)

PROs: Epic specs and decent price ($1237 =~ £797.40)
CONs: US model only, so import required. UK model has diff specs and £999 price

###LENOVO Z580
i7-3632QM 2.2GHz - 3.2GHz, 6MB L3 Cache -- Dedicated NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 635M with 2GB DDR -- 8GB (DDR3) RAM -- 1000GB HDD -- 15.6" Lenovo, 1366 x 768 Resolution Screen

PROs: Decent specs and price (£674.97) ....
CONs: ...but GT 635M is not capable of running BF3 at med settings (according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-635M.66964.0.html).

###Prostar P151EM
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3-3.3 GHz -- Nvidia Geforce GTX 670M 1.5GB dedicated GDDR5 VRAM -- 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz -- 640GB HDD 5400RPM -- 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 LED backlight, Anti-glare

PROs: Epic specs again! And great price too (below)
CONs: However, US model: $1085.45 = £691.89

###Acer Aspire V7-581PG
Intel Core i5-3337U Dual Core (1.8GHz, 3MB Cache, Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz) -- Dedicated (NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M with 2GB Dedicated Memory) -- 4GB (DDR3) RAM -- 24GB SSD + 500GB HDD -- 15.6" (Acer **Touchscreen**, 1920x1080 Full HD, High Brightness, LED Backlit)

PROs: Sooooo nice, with a touchscreen (not necessary, but futureproof, and has SSD. 1920x1080. And £749.97.
CONs: i5 Dual core....dunno if it's capable of BF3 *and* daily tasks. Please confirm here.

###Acer Aspire V3-771G
Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM Quad Core (2.3 GHz, 6MB L3 cache, Intel Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz) -- Dedicated (NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 2GB Dedicated Memory) -- 16GB RAM -- 1500GB HDD -- 17.3" (Acer, LED Backlit, 1920x1080 Full HD Resolution)

PROs: 3rd Gen I7 Quad, and huge HDD (unnecessary but nice). 17.3" 1920x1080. And double the RAM i will EVER need...
CONs: Price....£899.97. Above what i want my parents to spend on me (I'm 16...don't earn yet, but a good student nonetheless). If anyone can find me this laptop under £800, i will make a computer wallpaper with ur username and use it for a year....on the new laptop....no joke. (Not much of a reward, is it... :) )

###
Now for these Asus machines....
###Asus N56VZ-ES71
Intel Core i7-3610M Quad-Core + Hyper-Threading 2.3-3.3 GHz Turbo -- Nvidia Geforce GT 650M 2GB -- 4GB DDR3 -- 500GB HDD 5400RPM -- 15.6″ 1366 x 768 LED backlight, anti-glare (matte)

PROs: Specs are good (4GB RAM will do, i'll make do with it...upgrade to 8GB wished though...
CONS: Can't find the price!!! And half the RAM i want...

###
ASUS N56VM
ASUS N56JV
ASUS N56VB
ASUS N56VV

All these above Asus machines are great, but i can't find their prices....Anyone help

Any other suggestions will be deeply, gratefully appreciated, but please, provide links to the manufacturers UK website (US if there isn't UK, other if there isn't US)
and to the place where you found the product available for purchase (eBay etc.)

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
8GB DDR3 SDRAM
750 GB
15.6 inches
Windows 8

PROs: Does the job quite well, fits my wishes...
CONs: ...but the price is a bit more than i hoped.

Solution
My laptop really wasnt for gaming, it was mainly for Uni etc. I got it for less than the stock price due to student discount but the regular cost is like £1700 ( I told you it was way over! lol). Due to it been a Mac book pro with retina display ( I have bootcamp win 7 64 on it as well). My friend has a very similar specced laptop to the one in the picture and his frames are similar to mine. Depending on if your a console gamer depends on how many frames you want . On the 650m I predict 60 fps will be Med on Battlefield and High on skyrim . 30 Fps will prob be high on battlefield. I know i get 30 - 50 on Ultra on skyrim on a ridiculous res so I would prob say 45 fps on ultra for skyrim.

I have found several that will play BF3 at medium/high settings at 45-60 fps. The problem with most is that they are out of the UK.
Please provide evidence for your statement.

Thanks, I'll take a look and add it to my list.
It's slightly above my price range, but if specs are good...i suppose...

I won't be buying until i am 100% confident that it is the best in my criteria, however, this one looks good. Good airflow? I don't want it overheating (it will be on an open desk though, like a desktop replacement - just that the desk will change from home to school, etc.)

###Prostar P151EM
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3-3.3 GHz -- Nvidia Geforce GTX 670M 1.5GB dedicated GDDR5 VRAM -- 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz -- 640GB HDD 5400RPM -- 15.6″ 1920 x 1080 LED backlight, Anti-glare

i7 + 670M would be great for gaming. Though I have never heard of that brand but talking about the specs, this is the fastest of the bunch and much better than the rest of them all. The next best you can get is with 650M which is not nearly as good as 670M.

So if you think if that is a good enough brand then get it.

Higher resolution needed? 1920x1080 really necessary? I'm not a hardcore gamer, and playing BF3 at low-mid settings will please me anyway...
is a GTX 660m required? Because i'm trying to squeeze my budget to about £700 ...the less the better, obviously.

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/optimusIV-15/
2GB GeForce™ GTX 660M
Full HD 1920 x 1080 Res

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/enigmaIV/
2GB GeForce™ GT 650M
HD 1366 x 768 Resolution

Seems good. What CPU do you recommend for short term future proofing? (1/2/3 years). Individual for both please. (of course the maxed out i7 quad core is best.....but just look at the price! What's the minimum i can get away with?)

Haven't tried battlefield yet but I can Ultra skyrim with HD textures at 2880 x 1800 res with the 650m so its not a bad card. (But my laptop is way outside your price budget )

Thanks for your input! Out of curiosity, what is your laptop (spec or off-the-shelf model link please) and what was the price (roughly rounded to nearest £50 will do). Thanks Doc :)

Thanks Doc...yeah, just a little bit more than i would want to spend on a fragile piece of plastic/metal. But it sounds epic. Really does. Up to now, i have been a PS3 BF3 gamer, and from research ive found that BF3 PS3 is equivalent to 30FPS low setting PC....wow, didn't expect that. As long as i beat that, i will have the dream machine really.

Slightly strange...i didn't select best answer yet, because my issue is not resolved. However an answer was auto-selected. Hmm...
Anyway, it seems I'm going to have to reduce my price range, so specs will also be affected.

Can you please check out these links, and see if they will run BF3 at lowest settings?
