Black screen at boot with cursor

So i have been through lots of threads reading up on this issue.

I can get into my bios and recovery tools but from restoring my bois defaults to doing full system recovery it always takes me right back to the loading screen and then a black screen with a cursor that just sits there blinking at me. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!


Windows Vista 32 bit
Sony Vaio FW series notebook
F2 takes me to the BIOS and F12 takes me to the Sony VIAO Recovery Center


About to rage out and fill this thing full of lead.

sounds like hard drive or hard drive controller issue. have you tried making a bootable cd or usb stick and running some disk tools??

I have run the recovery diagnostic tools which check the CPU and hardisk, no errors reported.
