Black Screen

Lost vision while watching (screen went black) still had sound and channels changed but no picture. checked all cables and connections and put in another tv (which worked on existing connections) model is acoustic Solutions 32inch LCD HDTV CTVL32W3HD. Can it be repaired? Can anyone pinpoint fault based on this info for repairer. Or is it get a new TV.

With the set on, turn on your cable or dish box and listen for sound. Hold a flashlight at an angle to the screen. If you can see the picture, your backlight has failed. You would want to look over your warranty papers.
