Bluetooth audio quality question

So I have a usb bluetooth dongle on my PC and I was wondering if the hardware/brand matters or if I just need better drivers (or a new/better dongle)

I have a bluetooth speaker that I use, and it works well/no major issues, but if I take that exact same file and connect to the speaker from my iPod, it sounds considerably better.

I'd like to get the same level of quality from my PC as I am getting from my Ipod when it comes to connecting to these speakers.

If you require a decent sound stick with wired, bluetooth is compressed hence sounds crap! Othe option is buy specific gear to have better quality, see link https/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles#Advanced_Audio_Distribution_Profile_.28A2DP.29

hmm Not sure if I worded my question correctly. I know wired is better than blue tooth, but I'm comparing one blue tooth connection to another.

What I'm saying is that I'd like blue tooth from my PC -> Bluetooth Speaker to have the same quality of sound that I get going iPod -> Bluetooth speaker.

Let's say I take Song A and put it on my iPod and my PC. The exact same file. It sounds considerably better when I'm using my iPod's blue tooth vs when I'm using my PC's blue tooth

sorry misunderstood! Seems ipods support A2DP (https/support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204387) maybe your adapter does not, have you checked?

My dongle does, but the drivers that came with it didn't work at all (and apparently no longer supported) for m, so I had to use another driver that someone recommended in the amazon review section.

a2dp doesn't seem to be an option anywhere though when connecting the device. My options are hands free, serial port and audio sink (i've been using audio sink

SoundBot SB340 and windows 7 64 bit.

No interest in upgrading to 10 until I'm in a position where I have to, lol

I bought this thing to make my wireless headphones work, so I was really hoping for better quality. After a bit of searching around, I discovered an easy solution. I can't post links, but search Google for BT-stack-64bit-toshiba ( http/toshiba-bluetooth-stack.en.lo4d.com/ ). You'll find Toshiba's aps site, where you can then download the 32 or 64 bit drivers. Once installed, be sure to right-click on the device and select "Sound Quality: High Quality". The audio is INCREDIBLE (especially for Bluetooth!), and you'll be much happier "

Yup yup that's the one I was talking about from the get go lol. It works and sounds better than no specific driver set at all, but I'm still not getting anywhere near the quality as I do from my ipod (also blue tooth) so idk if the program/driver itself has the built in support for a2dp
